C9

These are the details of the family tree for C9, another descendent of James and Sarah Wheat. This couple raised 13 children, born in the three states of Vermont, New York, and frontier (1820) Indiana.

C9 is a descendent of their son Samuel Sanford Sturdevant, born 1812 in New York, New York, USA; died 1856 in Bolivar, Polk County, Missouri, USA.

We now have results from descendents of James and Sarah, through 3 of their sons, born over the whole time period and the 3 states of Vermont C6, New York C9, and Indiana C8.

Family Tree is listed as First known American Ancestor to Present - top to bottom

Generations 1 through 5 are as yet undocumented in this line. It has long been thought that James 1781 is the son of John Sturdevant III (b. ~1752) and Mary Sanford. This is due to the will of John ("to son James")and the location of James and Sarah in same Shaftsbury VT town as John and other sons Stephen and Samuel from 1800 - 1820.

DNA testing is pointing to another possibility that James 1781 is James III,(6); a son of James 1757 (5) and grandson of James 1735 (4).
