25 Marker Results

Because analysis of the new 37 markers is scarce, I have arranged our results as if they were the 25 marker test of Family Tree DNA, in order to use their calculus in guessing relatedability. (Is that a word?)

These 25 markers are the same ones used in FTDNA's 25 marker test. Probably the most common surname test of the last 2 years.

You will see that these individuals, one from Group A-Sturtevant of Massachussetts and Group B-Sturtivant of England, differ by only 2 markers in a 25 marker test. The markers are DYS 439 and DYS458. In addition, the difference in value is only one repeat for both markers.

23 exact matches, 2 one-step mismatches

Their calculations show the Most Recent Common Ancestor at anywhere from 14 to 28 generations at 50% probability, and 33 to 66 generations within a 95% level of probablility.

I do not as yet have a handle on how 2 more mismatches in 12 more markers will affect this generation calculation. It may depend on if these 2 additional mismatches are confined to one or the other group. Which would require more results from within each group to show.
