As of August 2008, there are no genetic matches with F1 in our project.
F1 is in the R1b population group by prediction. This result came through the DNA testing services at Ancestry.com. The surname list goes back to 1789 Hadley/Corinth, Saratoga County, NY and the birth of James Sturdevan. While it would be reasonable to assume James was a descendant of Samuel SturTEvant of 1640 MA, or William SturDEvant of 1657 Norwalk, CT, DNA testing has eliminated those possibilties. Indeed, there is no genetic relationship with the other major American spelling variation, the descendants of John SturDIvant of 1650 VA.
